I recently took delivery of the the new Rokoko SmartSuit Pro, still testing and working out pipeline. But, in short, the system is very good and the quality of the suit is excellent. Very comfortable and well thought-out.
After the initial setup, it takes about 5 minutes to go from idea to capture - essentially the time it takes to put on the suit. Calibration is simple and takes seconds. It's a rotation-based inertial system and the root motion is inferred/calculated. This has several implications for post processing and for the motion itself, but the supplied software is very simple, can remove all of the large scale artefacts seen in the live preview and is very easy to use.
Following that step, the motion is ready for export to your DCCC of choice. I'll be posting some video, but in addition to endless test moves, have shot, processed and delivered 5 character-minutes of previz motion to Motionbuilder in less than 2 hours. That's with no prior knowledge of the system or software.
It's a very liberating development, that opens up a new horizon for storytelling.
